  • Results and Report: Sanders Cup 2014

    Javelin skiff teams from Wellington, East Coast, Manawatu, Bay of Plenty, North Harbour and Northland competed this weekend for the prestigious Sanders Cup. The Lake Taupo Yacht Club generously added a third racing day to their Mighty River Power Regatta for the Javelins to be able to hold their traditional Interprovincial Challenge.

  • NZ's Paul Francis 2nd at 2.4 Metre Australian National Champs

    The Australian Championships for the International 2.4mR class were held over the Labour Day holiday weekend at Royal Brighton Yacht Club. Eleven 2.4mR sailors travelled from New South Wales, ACT, Tasmania and New Zealand for the event. Australia and New Zealands’ representatives at the 2012 Paralympic Games, Matt Bugg (TAS) and Paul Francis (NZL), were competing as part of their preparations for Rio in 2016.

  • NZL Sailing Team head to Europe

    The NZL Sailing Team are gearing up for the northern hemisphere season with the entire sailing team flying to Europe over coming weeks and a container of equipment already docked in Barcelona. Over the coming six months the calendar is full of Olympic class sailing regattas building towards the pinnacle event of the year – the ISAF Sailing World Championships, being raced off Santander, Spain in September.

  • Kristin School wins Harken School Regatta

    The Kristin School team of Leonard Takahashi, Sam Hassall, Rory McCutcheon and Oscar Gunn have won the 2014 Harken Schools Regatta. 15 year old Takahashi improved his results on the water today winning the Gold Fleet with a total of 16 points, after qualifying yesterday in 5th place overall. “We had a difficult day yesterday but today the whole team improved and everything just went our way. All the competitors were really good and the racing was very close.”

  • Blink is the fastest boat around the North Island

    After two weeks of racing around the North Island against 22 other yachts Tony Wells and Rob Shaw have sailed Blink to overall line honours and 2nd place on PHRF in the Round North Island two handed race. Congratulations Tony on a fantastic campaign and a great result.
  • Bacchante and Black Diamond crowned National PHRF champions

    After three days of racing in the Line 7 Marine Port Nicholson Regatta Brian Cowper and his crew on Bacchante were crowned the winners of the Ross Telford Memorial Trophy along with winners of the National PHRF Division B Championship title, while Jamie McDowell and his crew on Black Diamond took out the National PHRF Division A Championship title.

    The 470 National Championship was held at Kerikeri Cruising Club over three days, with nine boats taking part in the mixed fleet. Paul Snow-Hansen and Daniel Willcox of Auckland came away with a win, having picked up the gauntlet laid down by Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie following Oceanbridge Sail Auckland earlier in this month.
