Yachting New Zealand are delighted to welcome Laurie Jury to the team as our new Coach Development Manager. Laurie has an extensive background both as a coach and a sailor. We are excited about what Laurie brings to the team.
The Coach Development role is focussed on leading the development of coaching in New Zealand and lifting it to a new level. This is driven through up-skilling coaches via education and training, developing support networks for the informal development of coaches and creating resources for coaches. We want more, skilled coaches who feel supported.
Laurie is excited about stepping into the role of Yachting New Zealand Coach Development Manager; “I have been involved with coaching sailing for the past ten years, both in New Zealand and abroad. I have been lucky enough to be able to coach at some high profile events such as the Asian Games and London Olympics.”
“I have also been heavily involved in coaching within New Zealand, and I was the Sailing Academy Director at Bucklands Beach Yacht Club for a number of years. This season I’ve been back there running the Teams Sailing program.”
“I have many new ideas to bring to the role of Coaching Development Manager and look forward to working with other coaches throughout New Zealand.”
