- Transitioning into the ILCA 6 class with the intention of racing the 2026 Youth Trials and committing to the ILCA class in 2027.
- Looking to build a strong foundation in single-handed racing.

2026 420 Development Programme
Expressions of Interest Now Open
Yachting New Zealand is seeking expressions of interest from young sailors looking to develop their double-handed sailing through the 2026 420 Development Programme.
Designed for new 420 teams aspiring to compete at the 2026 Youth Trials, this programme will develop the technical, tactical and racing fundamentals needed to confidently begin a 420 campaign and work towards joining the 2027 Youth Programme.
The programme includes coaching opportunities leading into the Youth Trials, providing sailors with the skills, confidence and experience to compete at the Youth Trials and continue their development in the 420 class.

Who is it for?
The programme is aimed at youth sailors who are:

Teams are expected to commit to all days of training.
