The HPSNZ Pre-High Performance Athlete Development (Pre-HPAD) programme targets athletes and their coaches who are 8 to 10 years from a podium performance at the highest level in their sport. Each year, targeted NSOs select emerging athletes and coaches to join the programme.
Athletes selected will get access to workshops and online resources introducing how nutrition, athlete life, and performance psychology/mental skills are important to maximising performance. There is some individual support across these areas as well as regular strength & conditioning sessions.

These athletes would have been selected off the back of the 2021 New Zealand Youth Championships but due to the event being canceled a selection panel of YNZ representatives will be formed to select the participants.
