Appeal on a decision made by  the Northland Regional Council on Westpac Mussels Distributors application for various resource consents  associated with a 125ha marine farm in Whangaroa Bay, Stephenson Island 

Yachting New Zealand (YNZ) understands that Ministry of Fisheries (MFISH) intends to propose a new aquaculture zone for fin fish farming of 300 hectares, 10 kilometres off the Western coast of the Coromandel Peninsula (Proposal).

Submission by Yachting New Zealand to the Primary Production Select Committee in relation to the Aquaculture Legislation Amendment Bill

As this draft plan identifies “The Abel Tasman coast is significant in terms of its scenic values”, it is also of significant value in terms of the recreational value it holds.

Submission to the EPA (Environment Protect Authority) on the New Zealand King Salmon proposal to expand salmon farming in the Marlborough Sounds. This includes eight new sites throughout the Sounds.

Submission to the Northland Regional Council on the Whaingaroa Fisheries Company Limited application to establish a large marine farming operation in Whangaroa Harbour 

While YNZ is aware that these rules will be applied reasonably by local authorities, YNZ feels it is still important to highlight areas of concern in the wording of the proposed bylaws and any unintended consequences.
