Day two at the ISAF Youth World Sailing Championships in Malaysia brought more of the same as day one – plenty of wind.

Strong offshore breezes again dominated the day and the NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team responded well in tricky conditions. Seven of the New Zealand crews now sit in the top ten including four in the top four.
 

The 45th ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships has arrived. Racing starts today in Malaysia at the annual event where the best youth sailors from around the world culminate in one location and wage battle on the water in a quest for Youth World domination.

Day one at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships is done and dusted and the young kiwi team has put out a promising start. Six of the eight teams currently sit in the top ten.

New Zealand opened the 2015-16 ISAF Sailing World Cup Series with a four medal haul at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne which wrapped up over the weekend.

In July this year, the General Assembly of the International 420 Class Association (held in Karatsu, Japan), announced that the Fremantle Sailing Club had won the bid to host the 2017 International 420 Class World, Ladies World and U17 World Championships.

Yachting New Zealand Safety and Technical Officer wants to let owners of boats that hold safety category 2 & 3 certificates, and those that are intending undergoing a category 1 inspection, that there has been an amendment to the Safety Regulations of Sailing 2013 – 2016 as follows;

The Optimist Auckland NZIODA Championship will be hosted by Maraetai Sailing Club from Saturday 30th January to Sunday 1st February 2016. The regatta also includes the Auckland Champs for the Starling, P-Class and Rs Feva classes, promising a great weekend of sailing with approx. 240 boats expected.

At just 14 years of age Josh was pushing the vey experienced Scott Leith (4 x world laser masters champion)  to the max in every race of the Laser Radial class. Welcome to my final update for 2015! As we head into the festive season I have some great news from the Yachting New Zealand team.

The World Masters Games 2017 sports schedule, including the competition dates for sailing, were announced today along with the all-important registration packages available to athletes and supporters.  

The 2015 Sir Peter Blake Torbay Regatta this year celebrated a lucky red socks milestone with a sea of brightly adorned feet across the beach marking 20 years since 1995 when New Zealanders embraced red sock fever getting in behind Sir Peter Blake’s 1995 America’s Cup campaign.

Otis Horne (19) has travelled further than most when it comes to pursuits on the water.

The Hastings sailor won the Attitude Courage in Sport Award at the 2015 Attitude Awards on December 3 – the UN sanctioned ‘International Day of People with Disability’.

The 2015 Para World Sailing Championships have just concluded in Melbourne, Australia where four New Zealand Paralympic campaign crews were racing across each of the three Paralympic events.
