The Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club (SSCBC) has received a record 165 entries for the McDougall + McConaghy 2015 International Moth World Championship due to be sailed in the popular seaside town of Sorrento from 9-16 January, 2015, on Port Phillip.

Four kiwi 420 crews are in Fremantle Western Australia lining up against their Aussie counter-parts in a double-header in the youth double handed class – the Australian 420 National Championships, which wrapped up on January 3rd is closely followed by the Australian Youth National Championships which gets underway today.

Qingdao, China has been selected as the Asian venue for the ISAF Sailing World Cup in 2015 and 2016.

No plans for Waitangi Weekend, come and join Weiti Boating Club up in Whangaparoa for the annual race to Fitzroy Harbour. Race starts 9am on Friday 6th February.

A team of four 420s has made the trip across to Fremantle for the Australian 420 Nationals, a six day regatta, 29th Dec - 3rd Jan and then the Australian Youth Championship a five day regatta running from Jan 6th to Jan 10th.

The ISAF World Sailing Rankings for 15 December 2014 have been released.

On Monday 26 January Auckland celebrates its 175th birthday, and so does the Ports of Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta.

The website for the 2015 Finn Gold Cup in Takapuna, New Zealand, has been launched. The Finn class is eagerly anticipating a return to Takapuna Boating Club for what will be only the second Finn World Championship to be held in New Zealand.

Together Yachting New Zealand and Volvo Cars New Zealand want to nurture and grow the grass roots of our sport, and it’s this motivation that has seen a small group of Volvo dealerships assist Yachting New Zealand’s Regional Support Officers further extending the work being done at Club level.

It may be the last world championship of 2014, but it is certainly not the least. The 2014 OK Dinghy World Championship opens at Black Rock Yacht Club on Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne, Australia, on December 28th and so far there are around 80 entries, with perhaps a few more before registration closes.

A very rare cannon belonging to the Royal Akarana Yacht Club has been stolen.

New Zealand athletes are being warned that tough new anti-doping rules come into force from 1 January, 2015. The rules will see those who intentionally cheat by using performance enhancing drugs or methods face longer bans from all sport.

Once again a good number of boats turned out for Wairoa Yacht Club’s Wairoa River Regatta. The regatta included the East Coast Championships for Lasers, P Class and the Optimist green fleet.
