While the weather at Lake Ngaroto left something to be desired on Saturday 29th November, the turnout of potential sailors and volunteers couldn’t have been better for the newest Sailabilty’s first have a go day.
Representatives from Sailability Taranaki, Sailability Rotorua, Sailability Auckland and the New Zealand Hansa Class Association came with boats and were on hand to offer help and support. Also, strong community support was evident with many volunteers from Ngaroto Sailing Club, Te Awamutu Lions, Halberg Trust, Enrich+, Waikato Yacht Squadron, and many individuals joining together to run a great day.
Over 100 people attended, and while 46 sailors had their first Hansa Class sailing experience, others enjoyed the bouncy castle and other entertainment provided, and the BBQ.
