    Fickle and changing winds at the 2012 Olympic venue hampered racing on day three of 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup Weymouth and only one NZL Sailing Team added a countable race to their results.

    Paul Snow Hansen and Daniel Willcox (pictured©onEdition) above managed a 2nd place in the only race of the day for the Men’s 470 class and as a result they are now lying 2nd overall.

    New Zealand leads in three events with a total of eight NZL Sailing Team crews lying top five at the end of day two in Weymouth, England where the 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup Weymouth Regatta is underway.

    Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech (picture above © onEdition) were the stand-out performers on the team today and they take the overall lead in the 49erFX. Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie retain their lead in the Women’s 470; so does Andy Maloney in the Laser.

    Racing is underway at 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup Weymouth Regatta and it has been a cracking day one for the kiwis in the Women’s 470, Finn, Laser and 49erFX events.

    Day one produced sunny north easterly breezes and three NZL Sailing Team crews have the early lead in their events including Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie (Womens’ 470), Andy Maloney (Laser) and Andrew Murdoch (Finn). Meanwhile Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech are lying 2nd in the 49erFX.

    This week the NZL Sailing Team is in Weymouth and Portland on the southern coast of England where in 2012 the Olympic sailing regatta took place.

    Fifteen kiwi crews are at the venue preparing for 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup Weymouth Regatta where racing starts on Wednesday. On Sunday, after five days of racing, medals will be awarded to those who have performed the best in each of the ten Olympic classes being contested.

  • ISAF To Campaign For Disabled Sailing's Inclusion In Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

    The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) is to campaign for Disabled Sailing's inclusion in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and has appointed VERO Communications to advise and support its campaign.  The decision to press the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to add Disabled Sailing to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games comes on the back of ISAF formally taking over the management of Disabled Sailing in November 2014, and the integration of the International Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) into ISAF.

  • Three Medals for NZL Sailing Team at Delta Lloyd Regatta

    The NZL Sailing Team has won three medals at 2015 Delta Lloyd Regatta for Olympic and Paralympic classes which wrapped overnight in Medemblik, the Netherlands.

    Marcus Hansen and Josh Porebski (pictured Sander van der Borch) secured silver in the 49er skiff, Josh Junior taking bronze in the Finn and New Zealand’s Nacra 17 pair Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders also took bronze.

  • Delta Lloyd Regatta 2015: Over 700 boats

    The 31st edition of the Delta Lloyd Regatta is very popular in the sailingworld. Over 700 boats will be in Medemblik on the water from 26th to 30th May. Competitors from 74 different nationalities travelled to the Dutch town to compete the next five days in the ten Olympic and three Paralympic classes.

  • Interview with Sam Bacon Winner of the 2015 Optimist Nationals

    Sam Bacon was the winner of the 2015 Optimist National Championships, Sam had already finished 2nd in the same regatta last year, he has competed in the Optimist Worlds in 2014 and will be travelling to Poland for the Worlds in 2015. Sam sails out of Worser Bay Boating Club in Wellington.
