Start your journey to becoming a yachting coach by enrolling for an upcoming learn to sail coaching course.
The next one is being run at the Wakatere Boating Club on November 23 and 24 but is filling up fast. Other courses will be run in 2020.
The learn to sail course is Yachting New Zealand's entry level coaching course for all ages and at the end of it coaches will be able to competently teach level 1 (start sailing) and level 2 (sailing fast) programmes. There will also be a focus on safety on and off the water as well as time spent on operating coach boats.
Participants who are members of a Yachting New Zealand affiliated club or organisation will be certified - if not, you can still do the course if there is space but you won't receive any formal certificate.
The course is typically run over a weekend, totalling about 16 hours, or over two weeknights and one full day.
