    Two more race wins for Giles Scott (GBR) at the Finn Europeans in La Rochelle extends his lead to 18 points, and allows him to discard a second place from the first race of the day to leave him with four race wins out of five sailed. Andrew Mills (GBR) has moved up to second while Ed Wright (GBR) has discarded his BFD from race 1 to climb into third.

    Giles Scott (GBR) leads the 2014 Finn Europeans in La Rochelle from defending champion Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) and Tapio Nirkko (FIN) after two great races on the second day of the competition.

    Yachting New Zealand is pleased to announce that Aon New Zealand, the country’s largest insurance broker, has become a major sponsor of YNZ. Next season, the Yachting New Zealand youth development programmes will be given a boost through Aon’s investment in the Aon Fast Track programme and training clinics around the country. YNZ member clubs will also have access to special insurance deals to assist with some of the challenges they are currently facing in this area
  • False start to Finn Europeans after wind abandons La Rochelle

    The Finn Senior and Junior European Championship got off to a slow start in La Rochelle, France on Monday with no races sailed. After three starts were attempted for the first race, it was eventually abandoned half way up the first leg and cancelled for the day, later in the afternoon.
  • 50th Anniversary Whangarei to Noumea Yacht Race

    On Saturday the 26th April 2014 the Onerahi Yacht Club hosted the 50th Reunion of their Whangarei to Noumea Yacht Race. The inaugural race started on the 18th April 1964 and then subsequently ran through the years 1967, 1971, 1975, 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1984.

    Racing at the Finn Senior and Junior European Championships commences Monday at 11.00 in La Rochelle, France. Registration and measurement are now complete with 101 boats from 30 nations entered for the event.

The city lived up to its reputation as a tricky, unpredictable race course, giving crews a tough time even with the fleet reduced to two divisions of six boats to minimise the risk of collision.

    The official opening of the 2014 Finn Senior and Junior European Championships in La Rochelle, France, on Friday evening, was marked by the defending champion Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) handing over the trophy he won last year to Claire Fountaine, the President of the host club Société des Régates Rochelaises (SRR).

    The Finn Senior and Junior European Championship gets under way this weekend in La Rochelle, France. To date there are 95 entries from 31 nations and with a few exceptions virtually all of the top sailors are entered for what will be the classes third senior championship at the Atlantic coast venue.

  • 2014 NZ OK Dinghy Nationals - Report and Results

    This year the southern (if you are a North Islander) OK stronghold of Worser Bay played host to the New Zealand OK Nationals. Held over Easter, fleet numbers were slightly down on previous years, however all the leading contenders for the title were all still present and making their presence known around the compound.
  • Takapuna Anzac Regatta and final event of Farr 3.7 Class Grand Prix Series

    Ten yachts sailed over two days at the Takapuna Boating Club Anzac Regatta. Other classes were boards, 420 and F18. Only boards had a bigger fleet. Derek Snow #88 (Wakatere) with three wins, won the regatta over seven races ahead of Mike Jones #188 (Manly) and Phil Ash #111 (Manly).

  • NZL Sailing Team Update: Four Medals – two gold and two silver from Hyeres

    The NZL Sailing Team has ended ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyeres with a four medal haul including two golds and two silvers with a further two sailors finishing just outside the medals in fourth. Overall victories came from New Zealand’s London Olympic medallists, Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (49er), and Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie (Women’s 470) who have both secured back to back gold medals at ISAF Sailing World Cup Palma in early April, and now Hyeres.
