Murrays Bay Sailing Club will proudly host the 2016 RS:X, Techno, Raceboard and Kona Nationals this ANZAC weekend with racing from 23rd-25th April.

The 2016 Jollyboat Nationals were sailed in the Bay of Islands alongside the 3.7 Nationals. The friendly hospitality of BOIYC went down well with both classes and the visiting youth sailors attending the inter schools champs over the weekend. Sumptuous food, including some beautifully smoked king fish, provided the foundation for a healthy and family friendly apres sail environment

New Zealand has won gold in both men’s single-handed events at Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR Regatta with Andy Maloney winning in the Laser and Josh Junior taking out the Finn class.

New Zealand is well placed to secure two gold medals at Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR Regatta. Both Andy Maloney (Laser) and Josh Junior (Finn) lead their fleets and are well clear on points after an eventful and rainy day in Palma. Just the medal races remain, and all Josh Junior needs to do to win gold is show up and complete the race.

The NZL Sailing Team’s Andy Maloney and Josh Junior have had another top day at Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR Regatta on now in Spain, and are in great shape with two days of competition remaining.

New Zealand leads both the Laser and Finn events as 2016 Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR Regatta hits the mid-way mark in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Applications are open to sailors from throughout New Zealand wanting to join the RNZYS Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme for the first time, in line with the RNZYS application process. 

There has been some great racing over summer, with some new names appearing alongside some more familiar ones.

Lake Taupo Yacht club hosted Sailability sailors for the 6th time and elicited a field of 12 sailors in both the Hansa Liberty and 303 classes.

On Sunday the 22nd February Sailability Nelson combined the blessing and launch of their new Hansa 303 “Iona II” with a successful “Have A Go” day.

Emirates Team New Zealand got back to the grass roots of sailing yesterday by helping bring a close to the New Zealand Optimist nationals which had been held over the Easter holidays at the Kohimarama Yacht Club in Auckland.

Jack Ayers has outlived nearly three generations of crew members but that hasn’t stopped him getting out on the water.

A sailor since he was five, the 100 year old had no difficulty taking the helm of Montego Bay III for the second year in a row, leading his crew safely out to Evans Bay and Somes Island in the annual Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club veterans race .

This event is open to under -19 girls only. In fact all boys are banned from the club house while the event is on. The AON 29er clinic and Optimist training and they had to move down the beach and use the public change rooms. 

Beau Geste clinches regatta title after a superb final days yachting at the Jack Tar Auckland Regatta 2016

Beau Geste have claimed another regatta title in style after a top class final day for Division A in Auckland. Helmed by Karl Kwok, Beau Geste won 3 out of the 4 races sailed today in what were fantastic conditions for yachting off the Eastern Beaches.  Beau Geste were sitting in second place behind Viento 2 after day one, but their 3 solid wins and a 3rd in the final race surged them to the top of the standings, and with 7 out of 8 line wins across the regatta – I don’t think anyone can argue their victory isn’t deserved. 

The 39th RSA Regatta was held on the challenging waters of Panmure Lagoon. 

They came from far and wide, Taipa to the North and Ohope to the South as well as Whangarei, Waikato and Auckland with one sailor coming from the UK making up a strong fleet of 41 Lasers split into 30 standards and 11 Radials. 

One of the country’s biggest regattas is getting ready to hit the water this weekend on Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf. The Jack Tar Auckland Regatta 2016, a join initiative between the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Buckland’s Beach Yacht Club.

The 14ft Javelin Skiffs got together on Lake Taupo last weekend, for their New Zealand Championships.

A new boat being built along with a date change reduced the fleet, but the racing was just as competitive as ever. 

Saturday, 12 March, 2016 was the 95th Lipton Cup Day. This is an annual Ponsonby Cruising Club Interclub Challenge sailed in the 22 ft Mullet Boats.

Today the first sailing selections to the New Zealand Olympic Team to Rio 2016 were named at a beachside announcement at Auckland’s Wakatere Boating Club.

The 2016 Finn European Championships has wrapped up in Barcelona, Spain where New Zealand’s Josh Junior has finished 4th overall.

Josh Junior will go into the final day of the 2016 Finn European Championships well placed for a podium finish, lying 2nd overall. The regatta, featuring 90 boats and being raced in Barcelona Spain, wraps up tomorrow.

The Open Finn European Championships stalled on the fourth day with no more races on the board despite spending four hours on the water trying. With two days to go and a maximum of four fleet races and the medal race to go Josh Junior (NZL) leads from Zsombor Berecz (HUN) and Pieter-Jan Postma (NED) in the 90 boat fleet.
