Queen Charlotte opens the season with a bang

Issue date

Opening day was a fantastic success. Blue skies, gentle breezes, warm weather, mercifully short speeches and the cannon didn't blow Phil's eye brows off.

The Pirate dress up was taken up by most and a pack of 'scurvy dogs' in pirate attire hasn't been seen in many awhile. Commodore David, Vice Commodore Ian and Rear Commodore Richard certainly lent some gravitas to the occasion in their resplendent costumes. Some of the Optimist sailors and supporters certainly looked the part as well.

Two shortish races were held and 32 boats in four Fleets made the harbour a beautiful sight. The full results are on the qcyc website for you trainspotters.
