Optimist World Championships: NZL Team day five report

Issue date

Day 2 of the teams racing was a good day for our NZL International Yachting Trust Optiworlds team despite being narrowly beaten in both of their races by a very tight margin and strong teams - the last race lost on count-back. There appears to be a growing level of capability in our optimist team's racing skills and if we continue to build on this year's result there may be a time when NZL can truly be a threat to the international team's racing wizards. The team came off the water disappointed to  not have progressed further but pleased to have  had the best result for many years.

The good Ora breeze returned today and we saw 15-16 knots on the course with Singapore eventually taking out the host nation, Italy, to take the Team's title. GBR took the third podium position.

Tomorrow is a lay day and the team is ready for a break before taking on the next and final  three days of fleet racing.
