Coach Boat Accident serves as a reminder for clubs and coaches

Issue date

This week in the news was a story about an accident on Dunedin harbour involving a rowing skiff and their coach.

The story highlights the risks involved with driving rescue boats. Because of these risks it is important to ensure that the people driving rescue boats have had training and that the club has its health and safety procedures in place.

YNZ provides guidance around rescue boat safety and club health and safety. This can be found in the YNZ Club Manual; YNZ Regional Support Officers are also able to help your club assess its procedures and training.
