Our local boat club at Paremata has a Learn to Sail course for youngsters twice a year, usually in Labour Weekend and Wellington Anniversary Weekend.

Adult courses are one on one, and start anytime we have a coach available.  The beautiful Pauatahanui Inlet really is the perfect place to learn to sail. Sailing has a lot to offer kids, such as self reliance, problem solving, decision making, being organised, risk assessment, excitement, adventure, a sense of freedom, and it appeals to a wide range of kids.

Pushing a little boat off our local beaches and going sailing with your friends is just plain fun and a mighty way to enjoy the activity of sailing, and enjoy the wonderland that is our local sailing water.

After the course, you can join in the club sailing and racing program, and/or take part in adventure/fun sailing.

You are encouraged to buy your own boat if you do wish to continue (as then you will always have the boat you want available to you) but until you do you can hire one of ours.

Boats available for hire: Topaz, Laser, Sunburst and Open Bics
