After a day of rest and recovery, the 2012 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships have resumed racing in Ireland at Dublin Bay. The NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team had a day of mixed results, but still the overall standings are improving.

 

Yachting New Zealand is looking to employ a qualified sailing instructor for the Northern region Sailing…Have a Go! programme. This programme gives children the opportunity to experience the thrills and spills of sailing. Therefore a fun and energetic personality along with experience teaching children the basics of sailing is a must!

The Draft Takapuna Reserve Management Plan (RMP) was publicly notified on July 10th 2012. In the plan is provision for the National Ocean Water Sports Centre (NOWSC) and Marine Hub.

Nominations will be accepted in eight categories for the 2012 Yachting Excellence Awards, and these must be submitted to YNZ by 31 August 2012. This is a great opportunity to recognize not only the best performers in our sport, but also the tireless, hardworking volunteers.

The ISAF Youth World Championships have reached the half way point of the regatta, and three of the NZ teams are in the top ten. “We’re really happy to have consistent scores” said Ellie Copeland sailing in the girls 420.

Three more races were completed overnight on day two of the Four Star Pizza ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships for the young New Zealanders in Ireland.

The Wellington Ocean Sports Centre (previously RPNYC Sailing Academy) is running a Coastal Skipper course starting on 1 August, which will run on Monday and Wednesday evenings until 3 October. The Coastal Skipper course is prestigious course and it's qualification is a certificate of competency intended for anyone wishing to make coastal passages outside immediate harbour limits.
