Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have received their Silver medals, and the 470 Women’s pairing of Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie have guaranteed themselves at least silver if not better, when their medal race is sailed on Friday.

As Andrew Murdoch rounded off his 2012 Olympic Sailing campaign with a fifth place final standing, Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have made certain that they will be awarded a medal later this week.
NZ’s first medal race competitors finished their 2012 Olympic Sailing regattas on a high note today, with both Dan Slater in the Finn and Hamish Pepper with Jim Turner in the Star crossing the final finish line in second.

In front of their family and friends on the Nothe spectator course, Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have reclaimed their grasp on the Olympic 49er second place standing, while 470 women Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie had similar performances to also be ranked second after their first day of racing.
- Allan is a very competitive sailor and he has demonstrated his tenacity on a number of occasions when he can sail to victory from a position in a race that would have severely tested many a good sailor. But despite this fierce competitive nature Allan is still able to take out relatively novice sailors in club racing to introduce them into our sport.
