The Coastal Classic originated 31 years ago, as a drag race between Devonport Wharf in Auckland, and Russell Wharf in the Bay of Islands, 119 nautical miles up the coast.

This new space has the potential to be a world class training and competition venue for yachting, triathlon, ocean swimming, kayaking, Waka-ama, and many other marine based sports.
