- Tim Coltman, James de Lisle and Adam Middleton have won the 2012 Governors Cup, a youth match racing event at California's Balboa Yacht Club. Twelve teams from four nations competed, but the RPNYC Crew reigned supreme.
- The ISAF Youth Worlds came to an end on July 21st in Dublin, Ireland. “This year was an exceptionally tough and trying event and all the sailors did well to stay focused right to the very end” said lead coach Ian Neely. “The team really finished off the last race of the regatta strongly.”
- Eleven races have been completed at the 2012 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Dublin Bay, Ireland, and just one more remains. The NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team excelled in the more settled wind and water conditions which were handed to them on this penultimate day of the event.
After a day of rest and recovery, the 2012 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships have resumed racing in Ireland at Dublin Bay. The NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team had a day of mixed results, but still the overall standings are improving.
- The Draft Takapuna Reserve Management Plan (RMP) was publicly notified on July 10th 2012. In the plan is provision for the National Ocean Water Sports Centre (NOWSC) and Marine Hub.
- Yachting New Zealand is looking to employ a qualified sailing instructor for the Northern region Sailing…Have a Go! programme. This programme gives children the opportunity to experience the thrills and spills of sailing. Therefore a fun and energetic personality along with experience teaching children the basics of sailing is a must!
The Auckland 18ft Skiff fleet has just completed an intensive weekend of training on the inner Waitemata, ahead of their trip to San Francisco. This will be the 12th running of the International 18’ event hosted by the St Francis Yacht club in late August.
- The ISAF Youth World Championships have reached the half way point of the regatta, and three of the NZ teams are in the top ten. “We’re really happy to have consistent scores” said Ellie Copeland sailing in the girls 420.
- The Wellington Ocean Sports Centre (previously RPNYC Sailing Academy) is running a Coastal Skipper course starting on 1 August, which will run on Monday and Wednesday evenings until 3 October. The Coastal Skipper course is prestigious course and it's qualification is a certificate of competency intended for anyone wishing to make coastal passages outside immediate harbour limits.
