- What a regatta it has been for the Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme team onboard the XP-44 ‘Lawless’. The team sailed extremely well and at the end of the 3 day Jack Tar Auckland Regatta achieved 1st on IRC, 1st on PHRF, 1st on Regatta Handicap and 3rd on Line in Division B.

- Summer tournament week is the week of Regional Teams Race Sailing ranking regattas for College sailing ahead of the April Holiday’s and Nationals. The first to get under way this week is the Auckland Cup Regatta. With a big increase in participation by Auckland Schools the Auckland Cup – Teams Racing Regatta, is now a two tiered event. The Gold fleet have completed the first day of Sailing from Bucklands Beach Yacht Club and it is a couple of lesser ranked sides that are the shining the stars.
- Knowing the forecast was potentially bad the Flying Fifteen Nationals Race Management team, led by National Race Officer John Sinclaire and assistant Ian Clouston, entered into some intelligent negotiations with the sailors during the briefing on the first day of the regatta.
- The 2014 420 National Championship concluded on 16th March Evans Bay, Wellington with Olivia Mackay and Abby Goodwin (Napier Sailing Club) returning to re win their 2013 National title, Cameron Moss and Taylor Balogh (Naval Point Club Lyttleton) 2nd and Sam Barnett and Zac Merton (Tauranga Yacht & Powerboat Club) 3rd also taking out the selection for the 2014 NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team.
- Its’ been an exciting couple of years for the New Zealand Multihull Yacht Club, the development of foils from the America’s cup is coming down into the classes, we are starting to see a whole range foiling systems and designs.
- Panmure Lagoon Sailing Club has completed yet another very successful RSA Laser Regatta with participants coming from provinces of the far North, Taipa, Onerahi, Southern territories, the Waikato, Lake Ngaroto as well as locals such as French Bay, Weymouth and Pupuke.
- Currently writing from Barcelona, Spain… We arrived yesterday after a rather long (but most exciting flight) – the reason for this unusual excitement being the fact that we somehow managed to get a free upgrade to business class for our Dubai-Barcelona leg!! Awesome! that really is a very different way to travel!!
- In one month’s time, from 19 to 26 April 2014, the town of Hyères will be hosting the much awaited final leg of the ISAF world circuit, the Sailing World Cup Hyères – Toulon Provence Mediterranean. The only French leg of the Sailing World Cup, organised by the French Sailing Federation (FFV), is proud to welcome more than sixty delegations. With more than 600 boats and almost one thousand crew members, the competition will be intense and it promises to be a great show.
