- Sunday 28 February is the day of the annual French Bay Regatta, a one day event fast becoming famous for its warm hospitality, quality race management, and superb sailing conditions, only 20 minutes from the CBD.
- 40 sailors from every dinghy club in Wellington attended the Wellington Optisail held recently at the Titahi Bay Boating Club.
A good turnout of young sailors attended the 3 day East Coast Juniorsail camp hosted by the Wairoa Yacht Club. A mixture of boats and sailors from Gisborne, Wairoa and Napier with the sunny days and a nice breeze the fleet set off for the shingle bank at the river mouth.

The 200 days to go milestone on the Road to Rio was marked on January 18th and the opening major regatta of the 2016 Olympic sailing calendar, Sailing World Cup Miami, just wrapped up with two medals for the NZL Sailing Team.

The NZL Sailing Team has claimed two medals at 2016 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami, which wrapped up today in Florida. The medals came in the 49erFX women’s skiff class and the men’s single-handed Laser event at this regatta, which is the second in the 2015-16 ISAF Sailing World Cup series. Many of sailing’s top Olympic campaigners from around the globe have been competing this week in Miami.
New Zealand’s 49erFX sailing crew of Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech have gold in the bag at 2016 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami, after using the penultimate day of the regatta to open up an unassailable 30 point lead.
Breakfast wasn't the only thing on the minds of the 1,000 or so sailors taking to the water today for the final day of racing in the Bay of Islands Sailing Week regatta. Today was the decider, with everything still to play for in many divisions.
