  • Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have opened their 49er World Championship with a race win in the opening race of the regatta in Clearwater, Florida where three Olympic class sailing World Championship regattas got underway today in challenging conditions.

  • The Bay of Plenty Sailing Academy Trust launched four new boats on Tuesday, taking its school team sailing 420 fleet to twelve boats, and its total fleet to fifty-five.  Special guests at the launch were NZL Sailing Team members Tom Saunders and Sam Meech, both of whom did school sailing using the BoPSAT fleet.

  • The Knight Frank Young 88 South Island Championship was sailed for the first time on the waters of Queen Charlotte Sound at the weekend. The traditional home of the event has been either Lyttelton or Akaroa with the move north prompted by strong Young 88 fleet racing in Wellington. While the event did not live up to expected numbers it more than made up for this in exciting racing.
