Etched on the America's Cup alongside some of the world's most famous yacht clubs is a tiny community club from a small corner of New Zealand with just over 100 members.

Yachting New Zealand farewelled some familiar faces and welcomed some new ones to the team during the recent AGM held at the Worser Bay Boating Club.

What was once going to be condemned has been turned into a sparkling committee boat for the Bay of Islands Yacht Club.

Entry is open for the 2021 City of Sails Auckland Regatta and there are plenty of reasons to take part in this reinvigorated event which is also part of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron's 150th celebrations.

Next month will see a raft of regattas and national championship events hosted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, events which anyone can still get involved in.

While numbers were down a bit due to the lack of sailing by the Sailability programmes because of Covid, the racing was close in the light and changeable conditions at last weekend's Hansa 303 North Island championships.

Like most who take part in the PIC Coastal Classic, Bianca Cook hopes a nice easterly kicks in on Friday for a quick send up to Russell.

Thanks to Covid-19 more Kiwis are turning to their boats for holiday plans, and many haulouts and maintenance providers are already very busy.
