The Waikawa Boating Club is introducing a new and exciting event on October 4th this year. The Queen Charlotte Huff and Puff is a regatta from Waikawa Bay to Punga Cove combined with a challenging run from Punga Cove up Mt Stokes and back.

The New Zealand Sailing Trust was inspired by the adventures of Sir Peter Blake, and his racing teams. We exist to ensure that key yachts from that history are preserved and sailing adventures are run on board to help inspire the next generation.

Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie have taken the lead in the Women’s 470 at the Olympic Sailing Test Event (Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014) on now in Rio, Brazil.

At the Commodores Conference Northern Region RSO – Hamish Hey ran a workshop on liquor licensing and good practice to try and advise clubs on improving practice and reduce liability on volunteers. A few weeks ago one of Auckland’s Clubs was the subject of an undercover sting operation by Police and the District Licensing Authority (DLA), and unfortunately the club’s practices were found wanting, resulting in a fine being issued to the club.

The NZL Sailing Team’s big guns went racing today in Rio at the Olympic Sailing Test Event (Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014) with some solid results.

Saturday brought the 2014 Laser Radial World Championships to a close in Dziwnow, Poland. On the final day sailors were treated to the strongest winds peaking around 18 knots and the large rolling waves from training. The week had a mixture of all conditions, from light fading winds to freshening finals racing and some medium hiking conditions for qualification -mostly under sunny warm conditions.
