The NZ Sailing Trust has entered Lion New Zealand, alongside Steinlager 2, into the Coastal Classic Race from Auckland to Russell. Crew places are available for people keen to experience maxi yacht sailing on Sir Peter Blake’s iconic yacht, Lion New Zealand.

This is a global event created to support the Andrew Simpson Foundation and to celebrate the life of Andrew (aka Bart) Simpson who was tragically killed during the last Americas Cup campaign. It’s also a genuine Guinness World Record attempt for the largest sailing event in the world and Wakatere is open to any class with a centreboard.

Five crews from Wakatere Boating Club, Kohimarama Yacht Club and French Bay Yacht Club contested the inaugural MRX Youth Pathways Regatta. The regatta has been introduced to suggest a fun and practical pathway from youth to adult sailing for our young sailors, so many of whom drop out of sailing after graduating from the youth classes.
