- In August 2011 YNZ made a submission to the Tasman District Council regarding the Foreshore Scenic Reserve Management Plan. Good news! Two changes have been made in response to our submission: removing restrictions on motorized vessels and allowances for vessels to camp in the park.

New Zealand’s Olympic Sailors fared well on day two of the Olympic Sailing Competition in Weymouth as both Dan Slater in the Finn, and Hamish Pepper with Jim Turner in the Star won a race each.
- Yachting New Zealand have re-named the Club Instructor qualification Learn to Sail Coach. There is a philosophical difference between the two titles of an 'Instructor' or 'Coach' and YNZ is continuing to align with Sport New Zealand's Coach Development Framework.

- Some extensive gardening work has been happening at the Port Chalmers Yacht Club recently in preparation for a new hardstand compound for Trailer Yachts. This project will allow club members to leave their boats with masts up, and close to the launching ramp.
