Silver Medallist and coach head south for Club visit

Issue date

Dunedin is getting set to get up close and personal with an Olympic medal with Peter Burling, silver medallist in the 49er and Jez Fanstone, Olympic Programme director winging south to catch up with yacht club locals on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday afternoon Peter and Jez will head along to Otago Yacht Club around 3:30pm where they will meet juniors, learn-to-sail participants, club members and the public. There’ll be time in the schedule for the Olympic stars to talk individually with members and answer questions in the club house.

Also on Friday Peter and Jez will pop along to Ravensbourne Yacht Club where skiff sailing in the 29er is popular. On Saturday Peter and Jez will visit Port Chalmers Yacht Club to talk and meet with club locals.

Dunedin yachties are encouraged to get along to one of these venues to collect a free poster, a couple of signatures and to meet Olympic medallist Peter and his coach Jez. If you want to know more contact Yachting New Zealand RSO, Graeme Wall for timing and details.
