Big wind gusts blasted across the race course on the final day of the Extreme Sailing Series Qingdao regatta. The city lived up to its reputation as a tricky, unpredictable race course, giving crews a tough time even with the fleet reduced to two divisions of six boats to minimise the risk of collision.

Racing at the Finn Senior and Junior European Championships commences Monday at 11.00 in La Rochelle, France. Registration and measurement are now complete with 101 boats from 30 nations entered for the event.

So this was the first trip of three to Europe for us this year, more or less just to check in with the women’s 470 fleet and see how we are getting on. Surprisingly well it would seem as we came away from the two World Cup regattas winning both.

The official opening of the 2014 Finn Senior and Junior European Championships in La Rochelle, France, on Friday evening, was marked by the defending champion Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) handing over the trophy he won last year to Claire Fountaine, the President of the host club Société des Régates Rochelaises (SRR).

The Finn Senior and Junior European Championship gets under way this weekend in La Rochelle, France. To date there are 95 entries from 31 nations and with a few exceptions virtually all of the top sailors are entered for what will be the classes third senior championship at the Atlantic coast venue.

Emirates Team New Zealand crew got on to the water today for their first and only practice session for the Qingdao round of the Extreme Sailing Series.

The SOF Hyeres ISAF Sailing World Cup event wrapped up last Sunday after a fairly physical week of testing conditions on the Southern coast of France. It was a really positive week for myself with some solid improvements made, from a couple weeks ago in Spain.
