  • The new summer regatta at Port Ohope Yacht Club really hit the ground running and hosted a great fleet of over 30 centre boarder’s competing in light winds and warm temperatures. A large contingent travelled from Gisborne and Wairoa as part of a closer relationship between the three clubs in supporting each other’s club regattas. The fleet comprising lasers, optimists, firebugs, toppers, sunbursts, and even the newly purchased IA Class of Bruce Kenyon from Wairoa looking very flash with it’s all vanish hull.

  • New Zealand’s city of sails turned on its very best for the first day of Oceanbridge Sail Auckland 2013, with over 200 sailors on the water racing in 16 different divisions, in a day described as magic. Results at this stage are not necessarily reflective of the final regatta outcomes, although there are some familiar names clear ahead on the leader board, despite their “rusty” return to Olympic Class sailing.

  • There was plenty of action off Maraetai Beach over Auckland Anniversary Weekend when the Maraetai Sailing Club hosted the 2013 New Zealand Paper Tiger National Championships from January 24 to 28. The event saw over 47 boats from all over the country competing in spectacular fashion in the Tamaki Straits with the racing producing some very tight results.
