- A Fundraising Cocktail Evening to be hosted at Emirates Team New Zealand base in Halsey Street, Viaduct Harbour will raise funds for the five young kiwis selected to represent New Zealand at the 2013 Optimist World Championships.
- The Jubilee Sailing Trust’s 55m tall ship Lord Nelson, which was purpose-built to be sailed by physically disabled and able-bodied people, is sailing around the world. This is the first time that an accessible tall ship has undertaken such a journey.
- Auckland has been confirmed as the halfway stopover port for the Global Ocean Race circumnavigation which starts at Southampton, UK, on Sunday 21 September 2014.
- The Adastra Foundation is calling for applications for its annual funding round closing on 12 July 2013. Adastra supports talented young people that have already made their mark nationally and are close to succeeding on the international stage.
- NZL Sailing Team sailors are in action at two separate European regattas right now and things are going well. After three days at the 2013Sail for Gold Regatta, the third of five EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup Regattas, 22 year old Sam Meech leads the 33 strong Laser fleet.
- A stunning opening day of racing at the 2013 470 European Championships in Formia, Italy with blue sky, sparkling sea and a perfect breeze across the race course. Racing got underway in a stable breeze of 15 knots, building to around 18 knots.
- Spain’s Tamara Echegoyen has been crowned ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Champion but Camilla Ulrikkeholm of Denmark gave her a hard time in the final. The two kiwi crews competing, helmed by Susannah Pyatt and Claudia Pierce, finished in 7th and 8th respectively.
- Expressions of interest are invited for the position of a Head Coach for the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club. Queen Charlotte Yacht Club is located in Picton, Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. We are a small, friendly, family club producing some top junior and youth sailors, including several National and World Champions.
- Emirates Team New Zealand and Emirates Airlines have very generously given NZIODA two business class tickets to auction in support of our optimist team sailors travelling to the Worlds, North American’s, Europeans and the Asian Championships.
