- The Peter Burling led NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ has won the inaugural Red Bull Youth America’s Cup while Will Tiller and FMJ Racing have placed 2nd making it a kiwi double in San Francisco.
- The Board of Directors of the Auckland to Bluff Ocean Race have decided to postpone the inaugural sailing of the race. Since the Race was announced in December 2012, there has been considerable interest in this major new ocean race, which has been dubbed as New Zealand’s version of the ‘Sydney to Hobart’ race.
- YNZ Learn to Sail Books Running a YNZ Learn to Sail Courses this Season at your Club? Get the Learn to Sail books for all the new sailors. The book covers Learn to Sail 1 and 2. With plenty of pictures and diagrams covering all topics in both sections.
- The NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ, sponsored by Rodd & Gunn, made a clean sweep with two race wins on day three of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup breaking away from the pack and opening an 11 point lead in the standings.
- Some good news: Firstly – Heineken is the beer sponsor for 2014, there’s nothing quite like a Heineken at the end of a day’s racing. Secondly ICOM has come on board assisting with new VHFs for Start Boat control.
- The NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ remain at the top of the leader board after another gripping day of close encounter racing at the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup on now in San Francisco. On 28 points they share the top spot with the Michael Menninger led American Youth Force Sailing Team. Behind them teams placed back as far as 7th in the standings are just three points off the leaders.
- The NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ has the early lead after day one of the inaugural Red bull Youth America’s Cup, but only by the narrowest of margins. The other New Zealand entry FMJ Racing has a share of third place.
- David Barnes, Rick Dodson and Andrew May report on the conclusion of their IFDS World Championship together... The final day brought with it a welcome 18 knots. We set up for a windier day today; getting some more bend in the mast and adjusting our settings after a learning curve from yesterdays racing in lighter air.
- New Zealand’s Josh Junior has finished 9th at the 2013 Finn Gold Cup. The Olympic class world championship regatta has just wrapped up in Tallin, Estonia where a total of eight races mostly in very light wind conditions.
