Report and Results: New champion at Hartley 16 Nationals

Issue date

Manukau Yacht & Motorboat Club sailors Robin Williams and Derek Hickman (pictured below) sailing SHAKING LAUNDRY are the winners of the 48th Hartley 16 National Champs held at the Manukau Yacht and Motor Boat Club last weekend.

Second place went to another Manukau crew of Gareth and Mike Insley on BIZARRE with New Plymouth’s defending champion Alan Holdt and Wayne Julian on TIGHT FIT third.

With the first race day blown out Race Officer Kim Admore managed to get eight races in over the next two days producing some very close racing as the Hartley fleet continues to get closer each year.

Wayne Holdt, Regional Support Officer to the Central Region says, “Well done to the Manukau Yacht & Motorboat Club for their running of the regatta. The class is in a very good position now with more and more young sailors entering the class proving it’s not always how fast you go but how close the racing is.”
