- The 2014 AGM of the International RS:X Class Association will be held during the RS:X European and Youth European Championships at Cesme, Turkey. The exact location and time of the meeting will be published on the Class website later. Download the Agenda and the Submission Template
- Giles Scott (GBR) leads the 2014 Finn Europeans in La Rochelle from defending champion Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) and Tapio Nirkko (FIN) after two great races on the second day of the competition.
- The Finn Senior and Junior European Championship got off to a slow start in La Rochelle, France on Monday with no races sailed. After three starts were attempted for the first race, it was eventually abandoned half way up the first leg and cancelled for the day, later in the afternoon.
- On Saturday the 26th April 2014 the Onerahi Yacht Club hosted the 50th Reunion of their Whangarei to Noumea Yacht Race. The inaugural race started on the 18th April 1964 and then subsequently ran through the years 1967, 1971, 1975, 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1984.
- Big wind gusts blasted across the race course on the final day of the Extreme Sailing Series Qingdao regatta. The city lived up to its reputation as a tricky, unpredictable race course, giving crews a tough time even with the fleet reduced to two divisions of six boats to minimise the risk of collision.
- Racing at the Finn Senior and Junior European Championships commences Monday at 11.00 in La Rochelle, France. Registration and measurement are now complete with 101 boats from 30 nations entered for the event.
So this was the first trip of three to Europe for us this year, more or less just to check in with the women’s 470 fleet and see how we are getting on. Surprisingly well it would seem as we came away from the two World Cup regattas winning both.
- The official opening of the 2014 Finn Senior and Junior European Championships in La Rochelle, France, on Friday evening, was marked by the defending champion Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) handing over the trophy he won last year to Claire Fountaine, the President of the host club Société des Régates Rochelaises (SRR).
