While sailing off the “City of Sails” East Coast Bays in Auckland, New Zealand in the World Masters Games regatta in April 2017 will be a great experience (these sailing waters are special), this event is more than a regatta. The World Masters Games (WMG2017) is a mega-event with a diverse range of 28 separate sports and an expected 25,000 masters athletes from all around the world.
Beaming smiles were clear to see from sisters Kate and Greta Stewart who claimed their second youth sailing world championship medal in the 29er Girls skiff class in home waters of the Hauraki Gulf in the Aon Youth Sailing World Championship.
Two kiwi teams secured podium finishes in the Sailing World Cup final in Melbourne as the competition wrapped up with medal races for six of the eleven events.
The 2016 Aon Youth Sailing World Championship came to a close in Auckland, New Zealand with Italy lifting the Nations Trophy, an award that recognises the best performing nation overall.
