Yachting New Zealand is seeking expressions of interest from members in attending a club judge course to be held in the Auckland central region in late May/early June 2023.
While final dates are still to be confirmed, the course will be taught over four weeks - one evening per week.
The club judge course teaches people to read and understand the Racing Rules of Sailing, with an emphasis on developing skills through exercises.
The course covers boat-on-boat rules, mark-room rules, as well as protest procedures and using rules to participate in a protest hearing as a judge or competitor.
Ideally, the club judge will be considered the “go-to” person in the club for rules and it is the first step toward judging at higher levels - including becoming a national judge.
