ISA 2022 - Updating your constitution

The deadline for re-registering your constitution is 5 April 2026.

Updating your constitution doesn't need to be difficult, but you will need to make sure to include the requirements under the new act.

Once you have updated your constitution, you will need to hold a General Meeting to have it approved before reregistering under the new Act.

Sport NZ has developed a constitution template specifically for amateur sport clubs available here: https://sportnz.org.nz/resources/incorporated-societies-act-2022-and-regulations/

Most clubs will use Club Version B - Constitution Template.

We recommend using the Sport NZ templates as they comply with other requirements for amateur sports clubs, such as retaining your tax-exempt status with IRD.
