Bay of Islands Sailing Week

Bay of Islands Sailing Week is the biggest event of its kind in New Zealand – a multi-day sailing regatta primarily for keelboats, trailer yachts and multihulls. Established in 2003, this annual regatta is now a highlight of the sailing calendar for New Zealand sailors and a growing number of overseas sailors from Australia and the Pacific too.

The next edition of "NZ’s best big boat regatta" will be held from Tuesday 23 to Friday 26 January, 2024.

The 4-day format includes Registration on the Tuesday evening, followed by three days of racing Wednesday to Friday, with Prizegiving on Friday evening.

The regatta has racing to suit all types of boats, crews and racing styles. There are two main types of racing you can enter:

  • Open Racing Divisions: compete in up to two windward/leeward races plus one bay race each day, for a total of up to 9 races during the regatta.
  • Island Racing Divisions: compete in just one longer bay race each day, for a total of up to 3 races during the regatta.

There are dedicated Open Racing Divisions for Multihulls, Sport Boats and Young 88s, and organisers are happy to hear form any other classes that would like to form a division.
