Consumer Magazine Life Jacket and PFD Buying Guide. 

In November 2022 Consumer Magazine in conjunction with Maritime New Zealand, New Zealand Search and Rescue and Safer Boating released a Life Jacket and PFD Buying Guide. 

Clubs should be aware there are special conditions for running charity regattas. Strictly speaking these boats are deemed to be "for hire or reward" and should be operated under the Maritime Operator Safety System' (MOSS) scheme.

The 2025 club conference on May 24 brought together 75 delegates from nearly 60 yacht clubs across the country for a day of ideas, updates and collaboration at Bucklands Beach Yacht Club.

There are 17 Regional Sports Trusts across New Zealand. The goals of a RST are to increase regional levels of physical activity and to strengthen regional sport and physical recreation infrastructures (which includes clubs).

For use by coaches when their sailors have a physical disability that prevents them from completing the full checklist in the books.

Creating a coaching session that includes sailors of all levels and ability. So that everyone can practise and compete in the session with equal amount of coaching time and input.

While the choice of what style life jacket/PFD is often dependant on the type of sailing and an individual’s preference, more care must be taken with the choice for persons with a disability.

Many affiliated Keelboat clubs offer three levels of Keelboat learn to sail courses.

The courses are:

Hansa Class Recommended Yardsticks for Mixed Class Racing -  for sailors wanting to compare Hansa Classes performance to other classes sailing against them at the same regatta.

Good race management is good race management regardless of who is on the water. Sailing theory, rules, and tactics are the same for everyone, although physical parameters may be different when working with sailors that have a disability.

Hansa Dinghies are designed with a hull form, ballasted centreboard, and other features which combine to give considerable stability.

The Volvo Sailing...Have a go! programme began in 2006 with one trailer, living the dream of Sir Peter Blake that all children should get the chance to go sailing.
