The NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ, sponsored by Rodd & Gunn, made a clean sweep with two race wins on day three of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup breaking away from the pack and opening an 11 point lead in the standings.

Some good news: Firstly – Heineken is the beer sponsor for 2014, there’s nothing quite like a Heineken at the end of a day’s racing. Secondly ICOM has come on board assisting with new VHFs for Start Boat control.

The NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ remain at the top of the leader board after another gripping day of close encounter racing at the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup on now in San Francisco. On 28 points they share the top spot with the Michael Menninger led American Youth Force Sailing Team. Behind them teams placed back as far as 7th in the standings are just three points off the leaders.

We set up for a windier day today; getting some more bend in the mast and adjusting our settings after a learning curve from yesterdays racing in lighter air.

New Zealand’s Josh Junior has finished 9th at the 2013 Finn Gold Cup. The Olympic class world championship regatta has just wrapped up in Tallin, Estonia where a total of eight races mostly in very light wind conditions.

Racing at the 2013 Finn Gold Cup resumed today and 23-year old Josh Junior has edged himself into the top ten for a start in tomorrow’s medal race. After a two day interruption due to light winds in the historic venue of Tallin the 86–strong fleet of Finn sailors in Estonia for the Finn class world championship regatta were back out on the water for the penultimate day of racing. Three races were sailed, the first discard came into effect and the standings have changed significantly.

Following the success of last year’s Weta Summer Rally, The NZ Weta Association will be kicking off the summer with a fun family weekend at Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club.

On Sunday 1st September racing in San Francisco will commence for the inaugural Red Bull Youth America’s Cup and today the skippers of all ten teams, including both New Zealand entries, came under the media spotlight at the official opening press conference.

For the second day running no racing was possible due to a lack of wind at the 2013 Finn Gold Cup on now in Tallin, Estonia where kiwis Josh Junior, Andrew Murdoch and Matt Coutts are competing.
