A large fleet of 73 boats contested the 2014 Starling North Island Champs hosted by the Whangarei Cruising Club on the waters of Parua Bay over the weekend of 18-19 January 2014.

The New Zealand Sailing Trust is looking to enter Steinlager 2 into the ANZ Sail Fiji Ocean Race (http://sailfiji.co.nz). We are now seeking expressions of interest for potential crew members to race with us on, and deliver back, this amazing yacht. The Trust is working closely with the Royal Akarana Yacht Club and has gained dispensation to take five young sailors (aged 16yrs+) on the race.

Individuals and groups now have the opportunity to book a crew position and race on board Steinlager 2 for the Friday evening Rum Races. Sir Peter Blake sailed Steinlager 2 into sailing history winning every leg and overall honours in the 1989/90 Whitbread Around the World Yacht Race.

Sailors and officials were fortunate to enjoy another stunning blue sky day with a great sea breeze for the final day of the National Laser Champs in Nelson. 

With just one month until the 2014 Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day, Clubs around New Zealand are gearing up for a big day on the water and to welcome the public through the Club doors.

With all three NZL Sailing Team Laser campaigners, and New Zealand’s best up-and-comers, to be joined by top international competitors from Australia, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, Singapore, the Netherlands and Korea the scene is set for an almighty battle to determine who will be 2014 Oceanbridge Sail Auckland champion in the men’s single-handed Laser event.

Today it was announced that NZL Sailing Team sailors Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have signed with Emirates Team New Zealand as the team move towards mounting a campaign for the 35th America’s Cup.

Sailors intending to sail at 2014 Oceanbridge Sail Auckland have just Days left to enter on line. Registration for this ISAF 100 point regatta closes on Friday 24 January.
