The purpose of risk management is to apply a process to identify risks, set at an acceptable level for risk, and take steps to keep residual risk at the level.

Below is some guidance and a few questions to see if your risk management planning measures up.

What a risk management plan does:

In November 2022 Consumer Magazine in conjunction with Maritime New Zealand, New Zealand Search and Rescue and Safer Boating released a Life Jacket and PFD Buying Guide. 

Clubs should be aware there are special conditions for running charity regattas. Strictly speaking these boats are deemed to be "for hire or reward" and should be operated under the Maritime Operator Safety System' (MOSS) scheme.

NOTE: There are many other paths that athletes and their clubs may prefer but cannot necessarily be the prime focus of our Olympic Development programme.

There are other options that can work outside what is shown on this poster, this is simply an outline of the pathways that work most regularly and efficiently.
