The SSANZ Safety at Sea Two-Handed Triple Series is about to kick off with the opening 50-miler set for this Saturday 12th July.

Racing is underway at the European Championships for the Olympic 49er and 49erFX skiffs (in Helsinki) and also for the Olympic Nacra 17 multihull (in La Grande Motte).

If the loss of the first day of racing at the Nacra 17 European Championships due to too little wind was the price to be paid in order to have great Mistral conditions today off La Grande Motte then many of the 71 competing crews would accept that as a worthwhile tax. Today’s payback was a cross offshore, NW’ly Mistral averaging 17to 19kts but up to 23kts at times which was peppered with lighter holes and big shifts in direction creating a spectacular opening to the regatta.

Yachting New Zealand’s June Commodores’ Conference held in Auckland was attended by a representative from over 70 member clubs around New Zealand. An electronic Handbook from the Conference has been compiled and is now available for download here from the Yachting New Zealand website.
