For the first time in years the Nelson Yacht Club’s Kaiteriteri Regatta tempted a group of young sailors from Golden Bay’s Pohara Yacht Club to cross the Takaka Hill and be part of the action.

The bright green Optimist was a winter do up project for its young owner Mitchell Winter, pictured second from left.
“Despite the two boats (the other was a club boat) being much heavier than the rest of the fleet - one took six people to carry! - They both did well and even passed the others at times. It shows just how good their skills are,” says Mum Nikki Winter.
