Kiwi cat sailors do well across the Tasman

Issue date

Two New Zealand crews were across the ditch recently for the NACRA Infusion World Championships and the Australian F18 National Championships for 2013

Both were mixed crews - Brett Sellers sailing with Vicky Francis who were top performing mixed crew in both regattas, and Miranda Powrie with Tomer Simhony who also raced two strong regattas.

Sellers and Francis placed eighth overall at the Australian F18 National Championship on from 26-28 January at Lake Macquarie, NSW while Powrie and Simhoney were 20th overall.  Jason Waterhouse and Brett Goodall were crowned 2013 F18 Australian Champs.

Both kiwi crews went on to compete at the NACRA Infusion World Championships held from 2-7 February at the Southport Yacht Club on Queensland’s Gold Coast.  Sellers and Francis were sixth overall and best placed mixed crew, while Powrie and Simhony were tenth in the fleet of 21 boats.

In 2016 the Rio Olympic Games will feature a mixed multihull sailing event to be contested in the Nacra 16.
