The Marauder 8.4 Owners Association has survived thanks to an active committee, a regular (online) magazine “Marauder Mainsheet”, and an active policy of recruiting new owners. Every time a Marauder changes hands the association welcomes the new owner and provides material about the Marauder and the club to encourage the new owner to join the "family". It is a pretty informal email from the secretary Yvonne McGill.
The committee of volunteers manages an annual program of social events, including a yearly Class Championship Regatta and supports maintenance questions and other issues about the Marauder. We welcome all Marauder 8.4 Owners.
The success of the Marauder 8.4 is down to Alan Wright’s excellent design. The first GRP Marauder was exhibited at the Auckland Boat Show in 1978 offering a fast and safe cruiser racer that was well ahead of its time. Innovative boat building and marketing saw about 200 boat plans bought in the 1980’s and now at least 80 boats are registered in New Zealand with one in Australia.
