Have your say: Yachting New Zealand launches Club Engagement Survey
Yachting New Zealand is asking club members across the country to share their experiences, motivations and ideas as it looks to shape the next phase of sailing, yachting and boating in New Zealand.
The 10-minute Club Engagement Survey is designed to build a better understanding of how people participate in the sport, what they value about it and where there are opportunities to improve their experience.
The survey covers everything from club participation, racing and volunteering to coaching, events, media consumption, and the programmes and services offered by Yachting New Zealand.
Members are also asked what could improve their experience at their club, as well as what they would like to see Yachting New Zealand do differently or improve.
"The feedback will help inform Yachting New Zealand's next strategic steps, while also providing insights into our audience and the activities and partnerships that could be most meaningful and beneficial to members," said Steve Armitage, Yachting New Zealand's chief executive.
"We want to hear from our members about what matters to them and how they engage with sailing, yachting and boating."
The survey has also been designed to capture the broader boating community within Yachting New Zealand's clubs. Where "sailing" appears in the survey, respondents are asked to interpret this as including yachting and boating, in line with their own participation.
Alongside questions about participation and club experience, the survey explores what motivates people to take part, their interest in major sailing and boating events, how they consume sailing content, and their awareness and views of Yachting New Zealand programmes such as RŪNĀ, Clean Club, the national yacht register, PHRF, the safety inspection programme, coach development and race official training.
The survey also includes questions about sponsorship and commercial activity, helping Yachting New Zealand better understand the types of partnerships, experiences and activities that resonate with its audience.
All responses are confidential and will be reviewed in aggregate.
Members who complete the survey can also go into the draw to win one of two $100 gift vouchers.
The survey closes at 5 pm on Friday, 9 October.
