2026 iQFOiL World Championship, Day 4: New Zealand's Veerle ten Have strengthens grip as medal series looms
Veerle ten Have has further strengthened her position at the iQFOiL World Championships, climbing two more places on the leaderboard and taking a big step towards the all-important medal series.
Ten Have, who has now improved her ranking by six places over the last two days, sits fifth overall courtesy of scores of 4-15-6-14 in last night’s four course races, as Weymouth bared its teeth on Day 4.
The Tauranga sailor remains firmly in the hunt for a place in Saturday’s top-10 medal showdown, with four final qualification races to come.
Teammate Aimee Bright started the day strongly with a fifth in the opening race, before posting a 30, 18 and UFD to sit 19th overall, 59 points off a top-10 placing.

In the men’s fleet, Josh Armit produced some of the form that has established him as one of the world’s top male riders, crossing the finish line second in the day’s first gold-fleet race.
A discarded 30 was followed by 12 and 23, however, with Armit moving up one place to 15th overall.
The Kiwi is now less than 30 points behind Italy’s Federico Pilloni in 10th, leaving the door open for a late push into a guaranteed place in the knockout series.
The other Kiwi in the gold fleet, Eli Liefting, sits 36th, while Blake Hinsley is 98th.
Weymouth provided a stern test on Day 4, with grey skies, a strong westerly breeze well above 15 knots and a solid chop making for demanding racing.
After Thursday's lighter and highly tactical sprint slalom, the race committee switched back to course racing, completing four races for both the men’s and women’s fleets.
