2026 iQFOiL World Championship, Day 2: Veerle ten Have leads charge as Kiwis claim five top-10 results in qualification series

New Zealand’s iQFOiL contingent produced five top-10 race results on a challenging second day of the 2026 iQFOiL World Championships in Weymouth.

With the breeze strengthening significantly from the opening programme, both fleets were put through four demanding course races as the qualification series continued.

Veerle ten Have continues to lead the Kiwi charge, producing a seventh in the second women’s race to sit just outside of the overall top 10.

Ten Have is 11th, just two points behind the Netherlands’ Sara Wennekes, with teammate and training partner Aimee Bright 22nd.

In the men’s fleet, Josh Armit made one of the biggest gains of the day, climbing 11 places from 43rd to 32nd overall.

Armit opened with a fourth-place finish, his best result of the championship so far, before consolidating his position through the remaining three races.

Eli Liefting also made significant progress with a ninth and a fifth to climb to 41st overall.

Blake Hinsley produced another top-10 result, finishing eighth in the second race. He is now 66th overall.

The stronger breeze in Weymouth and Portland provided a stark contrast to Monday’s conditions, testing the sailors’ speed, control and tactical decision-making across four full races.

Competitors will now split into Gold and Silver fleets as the championship moves towards its conclusion.
