Yachting New Zealand has opened registrations for six Learn to Sail coach courses, with one already fully booked and more to come, including the return of a popular online option.
"We successfully trialled the online LTS coach course last year, and due to popular demand, we’re bringing it back," said Kirsten Moratz, Yachting New Zealand’s coach development manager. "We'll be adding more courses over time, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the course calendar."
Another notable addition this year is the return of the in-person component of the Race Coach course. This follows the online learning part of the course.
"We’re currently in discussions with Kohimarama Yacht Club, who are keen to host," Moratz said. "This course is a fantastic stepping stone for those looking to coach overseas, become a head coach, or move into high-performance coaching."
Moratz confirmed there will be at least one Learn to Sail coach course in every region, with Auckland offering four or five options.
"It's exciting to see more coaches committing to their development and taking advantage of the different coaching pathways available."
